Thumbs Up! Thumbs Down!
September 16th at 7PM
@ 1150 Evergreen #2
Redway,California
The date has been set. At this time, in response to Humboldt County Superior Court requirements, the Redway Community Service District Board will be APPROVING OR DENYING our application for water and wastewater service. The act alone of approving our application will also be a precedent for this board. With only an average of two applications per year, this will be the first time that board members will be involved in this process. Applications in the past have been approved directly by staff.
We understand that life is busy and boy do we know that attending board meeting is just about as much fun as getting your teeth cleaned. But change is happening in our community. Who knows what the future holds for us. It is up to us, the Southern Humboldt community, to take direct responsibility for the path that leads us forward. By choosing to support the Gyppo Ale Mill, you are choosing to support a small local family owned business that is extremely conscious and sensitive to environmental, economic and social issues.
Speaking of fun family owned breweries! Check out this little gem of a brewery that we found on our family vacation to Montana, Homestead Ales. Ironically it is located 18 miles from the town of Eureka, Montana, right next to the Canada border. We pulled up to this brewery, which is a very similar size to our hypothetical brewery, at instantly felt at home. They had a little wood fired pizza food cart outside. We order a delicious pie and a tasty salad. Then we strolled in to order some delectable beer. Lucky for us, California has very loose alcohol laws. In Montana, in a brewery tasting room, you are allowed 3 pints of beer and each time you order you must give the bar keep your name. No problem for us. We order our delicious beers and sat down and watched as the brewery came alive. Before long there was not an empty seat to be found. Our daughter goggled eyes with other children and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Mind yourself, there is nothing around us for miles. We asked our friends, "Do the neighbors mind?", "No, not at all!" The owners and patrons are very respectful. And because they are not within any community service district, they supply their own water and deal with their own wastewater. How I wish!
Just imagine Humboldt. This could be us! We could have our own beer down here. Our own place to call home. We probably won’t have the distinguished horses wondering the property like Homestead Ale, but maybe a donkey. Who knows!
Please, we kindly request that you attend this meeting and bring a friend along! Grab your calendar write it down. Take at your phones and add it in. September 16th at 7pm! We will SO appreciate your effort.
Cheers!
